Tusa Fa’aaefili, ‘Sio’

Sio is a filmmaker, writer, director and musician of Torres Strait Island and Samoan descent. He was raised in the towns of Cairns, Queensland, and Christchurch, Aotearoa (New Zealand) and began working in the camera and sound departments on various productions and as a grip assistant on the set of Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks’ production, The Pacific.

Since then, he has worked for NITV, Wild Bear Entertainment, ABC, SBS, Screen Queensland and Aspect Lab, and has made several award winning films, including Nia’s Melancholy (2009), Blackbuster (2012) and has just recently screened his latest short film, Eternal (2018).
