About Port Shorts
The Port Shorts Film Festival was first conceived in the early 2000s over a couple of beers and a barbie between a few mates who wanted to share their love of short films with their community.
It grew over the next several years to the extent that nearly everyone in Port Douglas either knew someone who was making a short film for Port Shorts, acting in one or pulling faces in the background as their mates were involved.
In 2015 – Port Shorts came back and took the event up a few notches, harnessing that same passion for making short films on a national level.
With the support of key industry players, government organisations and commercial sponsors, the Port Shorts Film Festival aims to generate a new wave of filmmaking talent to unleash on the national stage.
