Reid
Nicci Reid's film career began far far in the depths of North Queensland
when at the tender age of fifteen she was struck with the painful
realisation that catching sandflies in one hand with her eyes shut
was not going to bring the international fame she dreamed of.
She started filming the local tribal dance troupes and the highly
respected Croc Eisteddfod with an ancient VHS camera nearly as big
as her. Hence discovering that people regarded this filmmaking stuff
almost as highly as mosquito poaching. She decided she could be
onto something, packed her pockets and bid farewell to Ma and Pop
to try her luck in the big smoke. Since then Nicci has had her work
screened in film festivals locally, nationally and even on tv while
completing a degree in "Screen Production" at RMIT.
For now, to distract herself from fantasies of wealth and stardom
in the pest control industry, Nicci started making music videos.
She can still be found filming local acts in venues where your feet
stick to the floor, only now she's using slightly different equipment.
Now based in Melbourne working in short film, animation and new
media. Her work has been screened in film festivals locally and
nationally, on local community television and the Aurora network.
Recent highlights include the production/co-direction of a television
series pilot resulting in Film Victoria Script Development funding
and the current production of a partially funded documentary, "Alphabet
Soup", now nearing completion.
Nicci is the director of a new production company, Noise Bomb Productions;
primarily working with music video clips, live event coverage and
short films.
